The William Johnston worked in the Kingston area for over 100 years, built in 1840 by the Calvin's of Garden Island as the Raftsman for towing log rafts to Quebec. The Raftsman sank at Garden Island in 1850 and was raised about 6 years later to be used as a barge.
In 1941 the William Johnston ended her long Career and was scuttled off Nine Mile Point. A Mooring system was installed by one of the Ottawa Dive Clubs in the late 1980's. Largly ignored during the 90's this wreck is now reopened.
